Recharge your body and mind this Summer

Summer is the perfect time to focus on revitalising both your body and mind.

At this time of year, we look forward to getting to the great outdoors, adventuring with friends and family, and simply living life to the fullest.

How to know when to take a break

Whether it’s a break from work, studying or just from everyday life, we all need to find that balance to live a healthy and fulfilling life, and sometimes a weekend just isn’t long enough. If you’re finding it difficult to focus, are snappy and irritated, keep making careless mistakes, it may be a sign you need to take some time to relax and recharge.

If you’re constantly feeling out of sorts, whether from a heavy workload and stress or due to a lack of the right vitamins and minerals in your diet, giving yourself a break in the short term will make a massive difference to your overall wellbeing. Here are a few things you can do to ease the strain and feel better.

Eight ways to recharge your body & mind

Make time for yourself – Everyone has their own likes and dislikes, and whether you live with a partner, parents, or other friends and family, it’s essential to make time for your hobbies, even if no one else shares them. Whether it’s art, exercise, reading or playing video games, prioritising yourself and your needs every so often will help you feel more like yourself.

Exercise -?Depending on who you are, a workout is either the best or worst thing to think about when it comes to self-care. But there’s no denying that getting the blood pumping and the oxygen rushing through your body means you feel energised and rejuvenated, not to mention the physical and mental health benefits that come with it.

Spend time outdoors – Spending time with Mother Nature has proven to improve mental health and reduce stress. Not only will you feel refreshed, but it’s also a reason to connect with friends and family to go for picnics, on hikes, and visit new places.?

Take a digital detox – Constantly comparing yourself and your life to that of influencers can become addictive but also creates anxiety, paranoia and depression. It’s hard to remind yourself that no one’s life is perfect, and a lot of what you see online is fake. Taking breaks, whether it’s a month-long digital cleanse or putting daily limits on how much time you spend on your phone, will massively improve how you feel and will help recharge your mind.

Restore your balance – Proper nutrition plays a huge role in defeating fatigue and providing you with energy to go about your day. However, it’s also important to treat yourself and not confine yourself to a specific diet. A meal out with friends or a mouth-watering pudding after dinner is always worth it!

Get more sleep – There’s nothing worse for your mood than when you feel tired. Getting enough sleep will ensure you don’t feel exhausted all the time, which means you can make the most out of the day. Having the same bedtime and wake-up time will get you into a good routine that your mind and body will thank you for.

Go on adventures – Travelling with friends, partners or family to new destinations is great for a sense of adventure, to get fresh air, and to have an overall great time! There are some truly exceptional places here in the UK to visit.
